Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Apidoke ("we", "us") collects when you use apidoke.com and the Apidoke documentation platform, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this short and plain so you can actually read it.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the service:
- Account information. When you register, we store your name, email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Your projects and content. The API documentation you write (your API Blueprint source, project settings and version history) is saved to your account so you can open and edit it on any device.
- Email subscriptions. If you sign up for our newsletter or product updates, we store your email address and whether you are subscribed.
- Usage and device data. Like most websites, we collect basic technical information such as your browser type, approximate region, pages visited and actions taken, so we can keep the service working and improve it.
- Cookies and similar technology. We use cookies and your browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences and measure traffic.
A note on the try-it console
When a reader uses the try-it console on a published doc, the HTTP request is sent directly from their browser to the API you documented. Authentication headers, tokens and request bodies do not pass through Apidoke's servers, and we do not store them.
How we use your information
- To provide the editor and viewer, and to save, version and publish your documentation.
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To send transactional email such as password resets, and, if you opted in, occasional product updates.
- To understand how the service is used so we can fix problems and improve features.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate, and only as needed:
- Hosting and storage. Our application and database are hosted on Amazon Web Services.
- Email delivery. Transactional and subscription email is sent through Amazon Simple Email Service.
- Analytics. We use tools such as Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to measure traffic and usage.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service.
Public documentation
Projects are private by default. When you choose to publish a project, its documentation becomes readable by anyone with the link and may be indexed by search engines. You control this per project and can make a project private again at any time.
Data retention
We keep your account information and saved projects for as long as your account is active. If you delete a project it is removed from your account, and if you delete your account we remove your associated personal data, except where we are required to keep certain records by law.
Your choices and rights
- You can view, edit and delete your projects at any time from your dashboard.
- You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any such message.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to close your account, by emailing us.
- You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.
Security
We use industry standard measures such as encrypted connections, hashed passwords and access controls to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Self-hosting
Apidoke can be self-hosted on your own infrastructure. If you run your own instance, you control the hosting and data storage, and this policy describes only the service we operate at apidoke.com.
Children
Apidoke is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
